I am doing a history project on popular music during different time periods and I had a few questions about groups.
Do you know when John Lennon's Imagine came out? How about the other Beatle songs? 60s? 70s? How about the Hustle? Shake Your Groove Thing? Elvis was the 50s right? Do you have any suggestions for songs from the 00s, 10s, 20s, 30s, 40s, or any other time period? |

A good place to start would be the following site that gives you music from 1900 - 1949. You'll see everything from "When the red red robin comes bop bop bopping along" after WWI to the Big Band tunes of the late 40's - you can't go wrong with some choices from Ole Blue Eyes (Sinatra).
http://www.nhmccd.cc.tx.us/contracts/lrc/kc/music-2.html#wwi For later time periods. Elvis started singing in the early 50's and went through the 70's (although I'm not sure he recorded anything new in the 70's). http://www.fiftiesweb.com/elvis.htm If you click around a bit on the fiftiesweb.com site, you'll find more info about other popular music from the 50's. The Beatles came to be in 1960 (after changing their name several times) - but it wasn't until 1963 that their worldwide popularity began and it was 1969 that they did their last recording and photo session together as a group. (seems like they lasted SO MUCH longer!!!) check out this site for TONS of Beatles info... http://www.beatles.ws Imagine was (I think!) 1971 The Hustle was 1975 by Van McCoy Shake your Groove Thing was 1978 Peaches & Herb By the way - - you're certainly bringing back some memories!!! |
