I certainly want our troops home as soon as reasonably possible, but we have to be smart about it. Now that we're there, pulling out without a government with the capabilities to provide law and order would likely lead to a situation at least as bad as we started with. First, we would deal with chaos. If the chaos subsided to order, it would likely be the order of another dictator. Now that we've gone this far, we can't turn back. Elexina, it may not change your vote, indeed. All that I can say, having now seen it twice, notebook in hand, is that no review whether from anti-Bush, pro-Bush or neutral can convey what the film is like. It's quite impossible to take bits out of it to illustrate it or as typifying the whole piece; I've tried that all ways and the result still doesn't give a true impression of it. It's by turns interesting, a bit surprising, a bit alarming, sad, touching and funny (and not by reference to Mr Bush; it's got humour from ordinary people, some of it very wry). In short it's entertaining,in the broadest sense. One thing is sure. If you go in there expecting some grotesque diatribe or polemic; what you would find in Moore's books and earlier work; then you'll be surprised, and pleasantly so.
Judged simply as a film it's certainly a fine documentary, whatever the personal or political opinions of those who see it or those who made it; that much can be said with confidence

. Who has seen this movie and if so, does anyone suddendly have the urge to live in another country?
I haven't seen the movie nor, more than likely, will I. Quite familiar with how Michael Moore plays with his toy camera, I need his perspective of history about as much as I need Greg Brady's perspective of the Pilgrims and Thanksgiving. However, I DO have the urge to live in another country- Maybe the United States of America would be nice, rather than the oppressive Hitler-esque nation we seem to be living in today.
I don't want to give up on the U.S. but what can be done to change the apparent damage being done by the government, i.e. unnecessary wars and invasions?
Get rid of Republicans and Democrats for starters. Pull our military out of other nations. Let citizens fight for their freedom. If they don't think freedom is important, they won't fight for it, and hence, why the hell should WE fight FOR them?
How do we convince the rest of the world that the people of America are not the ones that are making these devastating decisions.
They don't care. When you lose your job to downsizing, do you really care WHO the hell red-inked you out of your job? No. You just care that your life is threatened and you can't feed your kids. Just like them.
Or are we? Our voting time is coming. Let's bring our troops home.
Yes, our voting time is coming. And it'll be the same damn thing again. I guarantee it. I can make that guarantee because I know for a fact that our government will again be made up of Democrats and Republicans who are not much different from one another. Both parties want to oppress people. Both parties want to tax the hell out of people. Both parties want to use our military in foreign lands. Both parties want to cater to those who will elect their party for a 2nd, 3rd or 25th term. Apples and oranges. Oranges and apples... Neither one is a significant source of calcium, which we all know makes for strong backbones.
People scream for change, but do the same old things year after election year...
