Hello! I haven't been here in a couple years, but I got great help in my search for an old song then, so I'm back!

This time I'm wondering about a bit of music used in a 1981 Kung Fu movie called "The Eagle Fist" - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0166024/. To me it always sounded like something that might have been lifted from a 60s or 70s Western. My search for movie data hasn't turned up anything (not that I'm the greatest researcher to begin with), so I have no I.D. and would like one if possible.

I have an MP3-format sample of it; there's a good bit of dialogue and noises, but the melody can be made out readily...

I think the MP3 sample would be the most helpful bit of information. Do you have it hosted somewhere or can you send it through IM maybe?

No, there's no IM feature here. I meant sending it through an instant messenger program. I find that easy. But I don't mind through e-mail either. More people here probably have e-mails anyway and you could send it to the e-mails of those who want it.

My brows are surely furrowed. I've got nothing. Most likely it was made for the movie, but it does sound like it could've come from a western.

I suspect it might be original to the film as well, but my faint hope is based on the impression I have that the music is a pretty bad fit. Somehow my mind's-eye just wants to see a bunch of 'white-hats' on horseback thundering to the rescue...

It may be part of the Theme from the Magnificent 7, part that doesn't get much play. I'll get the clip to a guy on my Trivia team who is really good with TV and movie themes.

You also may be right that it was written for this movie with the intent of sounding like Mag 7, one of the most widely seen Westerns of all time (and based on a classic Japanese samurai film).

I just spoke to Tony, and he says it isn't from Mag 7. He feels it's a TV theme from possibly a Quinn Martin production. He's still working on it. I'll keep you informed of any progress.
