What is the prize money in a horse race or a boxing match called?

In horse racing i think it`s just called Prize Money but in Boxing it`s called The Purse. smile

I've heard the term "purse' used in conjunction with horse racing. In boxing, the term originally meant the prize money won. Today, the amount of money each fighter gets is predetermined, and wining the fight has no bearing on that figure. The term "purse" is still used, however.
