This story has been circulating for some time. It would be political suicide in the US to attempt such a change.

At about 8:10 this man, patently an expert in international monetary affairs ( Wink ) tells us to get rid of dollars and buy , inter alia, French francs (but not the euro, because the 'euro is not backed by anything'.He doesn't explain what backs the franc or the UK £ another currency he mentions).

If only he'd told the French government Big Grin. The French franc ceased to exist on January 1st 2002, pursuant to the Maastricht Treaty of 1992.The only way you'll buy Ffr is through a dealer in ancient coins. The rest of us in France make do with the euro, since the franc is not currency Big Grin.

The film doesn't say which mental institution this man is detained in.Pity.

As of today, having been informed we have been in a recession for a year now, oil is below 50, gold is down $45, and the euro and pound against the dollar are getting killed.

And here's Snopes take on it:

Amero

By the way, the Snopes author says that having the euro means that countries can't stimulate their moribund industries by adjusting their own, individual money supply. The author has not understood the terms of the EU, of which Britain is a member. Whatever our wishes might be, we cannot, in reality, stimulate particular moribund industries because to do so would breach the fundamental EU agreements we have.Like the other members we have to rely on a decision of the EU to allot central EU funds to us for that purpose.
