Does declaring bankruptcy require liquidation of IRA/401K accounts?

No, it doesn't require liquidation. I know a person that declared bankruptcy last year and they couldn't touch his IRA nor 401K. He went bankrupct because of an unfair lawsuit from a car wreck, but he did have to release 7,000.00 from a personal checking account, but that was small potatoes compared to the 50,000.00 that the other person had won in judgment. He had 76,000.00 in IRA and 200,000.00 in 401K.
