I have some negative t hings on my credit report.

I have a judgement/reposession which is about 4 years old The judgement has been paid off for 3 years.

The other major thing is an open account from an old apartment I shared with my brother about 5 years ago. That is almost $900-. We both refuse to pay it because we think it is bogus.

My question is, how do I go about getting them removevd from my file? Or can I? Someone told me once I can write the credit companies and ask them to put a note with each item explaining the situation.

The first thing most people see is the judegement/repo. Most compnaies take one look at it and say forget it. (understandably) I bought a brand new car this last February and got lucky with that one.

The open file on the apartment one is seen by fewer people. In other words, alot of companies don't even mention it. However, it shows me as a bad renter since it is still open.

I am planning on moving sometime in the near future, into a place of my own. Since I am considered someone with bad rental history, how can I fix that?

Those are the two biggest problems on my credit report andd they hurt me the most whenever I try for any type of loan. And I know the rental one still haunts me because when inquiring about an apartment 6 months ago, I was up front and honest with the guy and told him that was on my file. He said that posed a problem and would make it very difficult for me in that I either wouldn't be able to rent or would be charged enormous fees.

Anyway, is there anything that can be done about fixing these? Or am I up the creek with no paddle...?

Thank You. Smile

I doubt you'll be able to get the first one removed. The good news is that it will automatically get removed after a given time has passed (I'm thinking this is 7 years, but that may be wrong, it may be shorter). I don't know whether you'll be able to do anythign about the second, but it's worth a shot. The agencies you should talk to are:

Equifax, 800-685-1111
Experian (formerly TRW), 888-397-3742
Trans Union, 800-916-8800
