A relative of mine owns a bar. Instead of using backup chips, he's started using small rectangles of posterboard with the bar's name, address, and phone number stamped to it. As well, a price is stamped on the posterboard card indicating the price of the drink. Anyhoo, I feel this simple backup is far too counterfeitable. The customers are talking of planning to counterfeit the card using posterboard of their own. What can be done to this card to make it non-counterfeitable?
He could always validate the poster chips with a specially made glow in the dark stamp which can not be duplicated. Once the chip is purchased, it must also have a glow in the dark stamp. I would make sure that this stamp expires often so patrons do not know what the new stamp will be. Many places use these type of stamps on the hand to prove they paid the cover charge. The stamp glows under a black light.
