I'm looking for information about credit and debit card market share. For example, how many cards does each provider have out there? How many transactions for how much money are made on each provider's card? How many businesses accept each type? I'm interested in the breakdown as credit & debit; as Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Discover, etc.; and as Capital One, MBNA, etc.

Any part of that info would be interesting.

Thanks

Stumbled across some info while reading on a Continental flight.

Mastercard is accepted at more locations than any other (32+ million).

Mastercard: 319 million active cards
Visa: 270 million active cards

2002: In the US, Mastercard cards were used in 6.9 billion transactions, for 602.2 billion gross dollar volume. Worldwide, Mastercard cards were used in 13.6 billion transactions for 1.14 trillion gross dollar volume.

35% of credit cards are cobranded. This is expected to rise to 50% in 2005
