If I promise to keep all of this straight for you, can I go, too?
Click here for a currency converter which shows that 1 Egyptian Pound was worth a little over 16 cents today. Conversely, one American Dollar is worth a little over 6 Egyptian pounds. This may be confirmed by numerous sources.
Remember, however, that the exchange rate is not the same everywhere! Competitive factors and other market forces abound. For example, an organization seeking American dollars but with a surplus of Egyptian pounds will value the Egyptian currency lower.
Have a blast on your trip

Hope you can read this, 'fuse. Don't know why this text is so tiny, but can't adjust it on AP. Maybe you know how to resize it.
You bet you can go with me. I'll just tuck you into my carry-on and you can ride in the overheads. Thank you for explaining the currency to me. I was particularly pleased to read that institutions who are looking for American dollars will trade at a lower rate. That means I would save money, right? And where may I find these people, pray tell?
Thanks for answering. You have a way of explaining things so a person can understand it.

Try this in internet explorer (if that's what you use):

Check with your local bank to see if they can convert a little fun money before you go at a decent exchange rate. However, my bet is that you will find someone in Cairo who would pay you a fair exchange for some American Express traveler's checks.
