I have a Brazilian Cruzado that says 500 Cruzados. I understand that the currency in Brazil is now the Real. How can I find out how much if anything the 500 Cruzados are worth in US dollars? Thankyou

I believe the Cruzado became the New Cruzado which gave way to the Real (I may have missed an intermittent currency!). Each time, the old currency was worth a small fraction of the new currency. I would still check, but it may take a million or more Cruzados to have the value of one Real. A Real being worth about 36 cents today, you're gonna need a wheelbarrow full of Cruzados to buy a piece of gum.

And you think our dollar ain't worth what it used to be! Brazil has experienced hyperinflation the likes of which we have never seen.

Please report back your findings when you have something solid, but I'm guessing you can't convert this into anything but a nice keepsake.

Perhaps you should check e-bay to see if there are any collectors willing to pay more than face value!

(Some Americans will pay hard-earned dollars for anything! Remember pet rocks?)
