In these days of advanced technology, has any "machine" been invented to prove, or disprove, the existence of ghosts?

No machine has been invented.

I have a human machine though, and it is called brain. There is no such existence as a ghost. Smile

Proof - like beauty - is in the eye of the beholder!
What do you consider "proof"?

I don't know of any machine as yet that can give undisputed proof.

But I do believe there may be ghosts as we have spirits.

Ghost hunters use various pieces of equipment to detect changes in the room's atmosphere, to detect presences, to record sounds, that sort of thing. But none of it is 100% reliable because you're not going to catch a ghost that doesn't want to be caught! Smile

Honilov, I wouldn't be so quick to judge, if I were you.

p.s. If anyone is interested in some real-life Ghostbusters, please check out Ed and Lorraine . I've seen them in action and, yow.

Ok Elexina, I won't judge, but that's just what I believe. If ghosts do exist, I hope I never see one. I've always heard that ghosts won't hurt you, but they will make you hurt yourself.

That is entirely dependent on the type of ghost.

Last Halloween, i spent a good portion of the evening watching shows about ghosts and haunted houses ( one of the reasons i love Halloween so much) and on this one show, they displayed pictures that showed what could have been ghosts. Shadows and lights in the pictures, that sort of thing. They also showed a picture that someone had taken of Marilyn Monroe's grave stone, and in the top corner of the picture was a fuzzy Marilyn Monroe! Eek I don't know if it true or not. Afterall, the picture probably could have been altered, but who am i to judge.

Well, there’s always Lincoln's ghost . And again .

(both hoaxes, by the way, as a great deal of 'spirit photography' seems to be).

I for one would never expect anyone to believe in ghosts, spirits, the supernatural, or anything else for that matter, without having experienced it for themselves. I would expect -or hope, at least- that they would keep an open mind, though.

honilov i've seen a ghost on several ocassions. the first when I was 8 years old in the Philippines. A ghost called the white lady. she was a rape victim and roams the roads of the hospital where she died at. She wears a white hospital gown with long flowing hair.
The second time was at my grandparents house. I saw a yellowish apparition kneeling on the steps of their porch.
The third, I was walking home from my next door neighbors house, I heard a baby crying, crying loud, and yes I was sober. I turn around and see in an upstairs window a baby glowing blueish in color, i got so freaked out i went home. I later told the manager about it, and they told me that a baby died in that room a few years back because when the movie Titanic came out, the parents wanted to go see it and decided to leave the baby home all by itself and it got smothered.
Are ghosts real? I believe so, but then again seeing is believing. Other times its just faith.

Ron, if I seen something like that, I would freak out, and would be afraid to ever be alone again. After I read your post, I got really scared because I'm alone every night, while my husband is at work.

Lord, please don't let me ever see a ghost. Amen Big Grin

Honilov, ghosts are not necessarily malevolent. You shouldn't be afraid just right off the bat like that. And for the most part, a ghost would reveal itself to you only if it thought you could help it. I am sure any ghost in your vaccinate would sense your emotions on the subject and steer clear of you.

Honilov the only thing i'm scared to see are 2 things. Spiders and Aliens. Everything else I think I can deal with. To me ghosts are a little bit intimidating, but it insures me since i've seen them that there is a somewhat of a re-assurance of life after death. whenever i've seen these things i do get very frightened, then again i've only witnessed the supernatural 4 times in my life.
It can be scary to see things that are above the ordinary, and it can be another thing to witness things that are all about the imagination. I don't know if I'm sayin this right, but you just have to look at it yourself. Read my past posts on the subject and read everyone elses posts on it as well. Then you can make your own judgement. I know for a fact what I saw,,,,and I will never take it back, despite all the science behind it and whatever else is behind it. I Know all the things i saw, and nothing will ever change it. I know what I Saw.......

Just to add to what Ron said. If you truly and honestly believe that there is no possible way that ghosts exist the chances of you actually see one are greatly lessened. I'm sure that if you did Honilov, that you would probably deny what you saw and blame it on your imagination. I say that only because you said that you don't believe in ghosts, not to be mean or anything. Although it might be a frightening experience, i 'd really like to see a ghost some day.

Don't worry, Ron, i believe you. Wink

As do I, Ron, as do I. You know what you saw, you know what you feel.
I can't help you with spiders or aliens, though, except to suggest you keep a can of Raid nearby, and a Protoplasm Deatomizer, perhaps. Smile
I find in general, though, most people are afraid of what they do not understand. I understand spiders, maybe that's why I'm not afraid of them. I do not know any aliens (although I have doubts about a few of my ex-'s) so I do not know whether I understand them or not... Smile
