She was Annie Edson Taylor. She was a poor immigrant who thought that going over the falls would be a stunt that would get her some money. She said that she was 42, but was actually 63. And on Oct. 24, 1901, she did go over in a barrel and lived through it. She died penniless 20 years later. Must have been a tough broad!
