Oh gosh....hundreds. I know Florida, Lousiana, GA, and the Carolina's have them. Also Texas has some of the largest ones. Barrier islands are located along the Atlantic and Gulf coast and I think at last count there were around 280.

According to this article at National Geographic there are 405 barrier islands in the US.
