I'm going to pick on two professions. I am sick of attorneys and accountants.

The legal profession is shameful with these class action suits where they get rich and the people get maybe a few bucks. Lawyers make the law. Law isn't made for the layman to understand. That's why we have to hire these educated used car salesman. Apologies to anyone that does that for a living, but everyone knows the reputation of that profession. I could dance on a table too, but what would it do for my reputation?

I am disappointed in those higher up in the profession to allow the poor ethics of attorneys and accountants to continue. It ruins the trust of the people. They have sold out to Corporate America that would love to make a slave out of us all. Accountants sold their soul for their own profit, not what is legal and ethical and keep practicing.

I don't get it! They have destroyed companies and jobs by crooked accounting at the request of big business in order to fake true valuation of a company which affects what an investor may choose. We aren't given the truth. The only difference is that the attorney will tell the truth, but you have to pay them the price and it's very high. Those of us planning for retirement are investors. We just lost a lot of money with these poor and unethical accounting tricks.

Why are they allowed to continue to practice? Both have boards that can revoke any individual that does not stand up to the code of conduct of the profession. I have to answer to the Board of Nursing if I get a any conviction at all. These guys make a lot more money than I am, yet I am held to a much higher standard of behavior.

I'm sick of the people of the legal and accounting profession. We got some bad apples that need to be tossed from the bunch before they destroy their own credibility. The legal profession already did. They are arrogant enough to know they make the law and nothing is done.

Integrity is extremely important to anyone that is licensed to work in many professions. Otherwise we have nothing but white collar criminals. I don't feel sorry for them. They just used a little more sophistication than the junkie on the street with a gun to your head. The difference is in intelligence, not intent. They intend to hurt other for self gain.

Damn, I should get a Bible! I make a great Agnostic, don't I? I guess that you just got your sermon from Sister Kathy so you can sleep late next Sunday. Sorry about that. I tend to get on a soap box. It's a terrible inherited trait. My whole family debates this sort of thing. Insanity by genetics? It's that or the teenagers or both.

What profession do you think need a good taste of reality?

Lawyers--and they are even worse when they get corrupt investigators and self-serving judges to help them destroy good people. May the SOB's in these three professions drop dead and be tormented by some Queen B with my voice--the sooner the better!

If I had a damage award available to me through a lawsuit, I would rather get 0 dollars than to give a lawyer 33% of my award. Mad

How about 40% PLUS expenses?

When you are at their mercy, there's nothing you can do. Frown

Unfortunately, I would too. Whatever petty battle in court you may have, you could have replaced and saved money in the meantime. If only people would act without emotion and with reason when the time comes, maybe we wouldn't be as lawyer dependent as we are these days. I never thought I would have to go to one for except for a will. There are people in this world who will do things to you to force you to take on legal matters unfortunately for our society.

Gin, isn't that all that stuff at where you have to wait in line? I think it is over 80% profit if it located there. It's been a while with me and retail. We used to see actual paid price per item commonly.

Wildflower, I didn't quite understand your post here. The 40% plus expenses I referred to was attorney's fees. I really shouldn't complain about the fees, in this particular case, I wouldn't have been able to handle all that was involved without any attorney. I wouldn't have gotten any money otherwise.

I was making a poorly worded comparison of going shopping where they put the high profit stuff at the registers.
