Has anyone had a teen who turned 18 and had to sign up for the SSS. What happens, do they receive something in the mail to notify them, or what? Is it just the boys or do girls have to too?

Five years ago when my son turned 18, he received a card in the mail from the Selective Service to fill out and return. I'm not sure how they received his name and address, but possibly from the his high school's registration program (explained in the enclosed site)
