Were humans ever nocturnal at one point in the evolutionary chain?

An intersting question, Matiqua. The habits of late night chatters aside, my best guess is no. This is based on the characteristics of the human eye versus those of nocturnal animals, and is summarized here.

Evidence from more learned scholars is certainly warranted and welcomed.

This is probably not a
scholarly response but I've always been a big believer in the circadian cycle which varies, for no particular reason, for each individual. I consider myself a nocturnal human. So that being said, I'm either on to something here or at the bottom of the evolutionary ladder. I'd bet on the latter(ladder).
