Is it safe to put grenadine in hummingbird food? I usually just use the nectar products, but my sister said she saw a recipe for sugar water with grenadine. I know you can't use artificial sweeteners or honey, but is corn syrup (which is the main ingredient) safe?

You should only use ordinary white sugar (1 part sugar to 4 parts water). Never use any other type of sugar, artificial sweetener, honey, glucose, fructose or corn syrup. Just ordinary sugar. The reason is that this is the type of sugar that is found in the natural nectar produced by flowers.

Thank you. That's what I thought, but I wanted to be sure. I don't know why there would be a recipe for something that was unsafe though.
