? A close 2nd hand experience good enough?
We were just in New Orleans visiting our cousins. They had remodeled a house that had moderate termite damage. They explained all the work they had to do and how fickle the termites were. (consuming 1 piece of wood but ignoring the adjacent piece). They explained the traps were used to detect the termites. Then once detected the traps were baited with poison with the aim to kill the queen. In port cities there is an asian version of Termite that needs less moisture to survive and really likes the North American tree species. Our cousins swear by them as both preventative and corrective measure.. good luck.
