It just struck me with the force of a sledgehammer this morning about 2:00 while I was trying to get to sleep that it's been literally years (at least 30) since I've seen one of those wooly caterpillars, the black ones with the orange stripe around. Has anyone else seen them?

Thanks, Frank, but that's not what I asked. I want to know if anyone is seeing any.

I'd agree that I've not seen as many as when I was a kid. I did see one last summer in eastern SD.

Catty,
interesting that you ask this question. I have not seen nearly as many over the past few years. This past summer I remember seeing two. Unfortunately, they were curled up and dead when I saw them Frown

They were my friends when I was a small child. I miss them! I expect we've sprayed them out. Sad to see a species driven nearly to extinction and I wonder what harm they ever did?
