Can anyone shed some light on this??

I have discovered a colony of ladybugs
living in my bedroom! There are about
18 or so, of them! Up around my window
valance.

I always keep my window open a bit.

I read on the internet that they can't
fly in temperatures of under 55 F.

They are cute, and they don't bother me.
I don't want to gather them up and take
them outside for fear that they may die!

Has anyone heard of anything like this??
It's just sooooo strange! I've never heard
of ladybugs in the house during the winter!?

Lady bugs go where it is warm and dry. If they can get into a house, they will. Do not use insecticides to kill them because sometimes other bugs find the remains and then after the ladybugs are gone and since they are in the house anyway, they will graduate to other things to nibble on (such as carpeting and furniture).

Lady Bugs are hardy little things and it will do them no harm to be scooped up and put outside. Just dump them near a tree in the woods.

Sher, I have no intention to use an
insecticide - I did mention that I
didn't want to kill them.

I don't want to toss them outdoors,
because it may be too cold for them!

I wondered if anyone else had experienced
this - as it's the first time for me!

Looks like I'm going to have to remove
them. They yellowy substance that may
discolour my walls was the deciding factor!

I sure hope that they can survive outside!
I'll place them in my garden in a protected
area!

Ladybugs are beneficial to your garden, besides being so cute.
I found some in my home too...mine is a sad story...I didn't have my glasses on.
They looked like little roaches to me. By the time I put my glasses on it was too late.
I'd rather not say what I did but I promise it won't happen again.
Later I found out they like to find warm places. That's why they came inside.

last winter I had hundreds of them in my living room. They started one or two in the corner in a very high ceiling, and I just saw a little black dot - - over time, it grew and grew and grew until there were SO many. My brother insisted I vacuum them up (which I refused to) and eventually they all died. They try to find a warm place to hide, but given that they have no food or water, they will die anyway. I didn't end up with any discoloration, but I did end up vacuuming them up as they fell to the floor! So - I don't think there's much you can do to help them. Inside, they will dry up and die - outside they will freeze to death.
