Is it curable? I like to think I was cured with help from my mom of a mild asperger's syndrome and that I am within the range of normal.

I don't think it is completely curable, but on the other hand, I do believe that it is possible to treat almost all the symptoms, until it is almost impossible to tell that you have it. I believe that with Aspergers, this is very true, since I myself have a mild form of it also. I like to think of it at the point now that I can just forget about it and leave it in the back of my mind, until a doctor will ask about it every once in a while. And yes, I also believe it is completely possible to be a normal human being and have Aspergers, (that is, if you think anyone in the world is normal.)

I don't think autism is "curable", because it's not a disease. It's wiring in the brain that is different than it is in the average population.

However, I do think that with mild forms of autism, it is possible to adapt to the difference so that perceptions and reactions fall within "normal".

For example, I am dyslexic. I was never tested for dyslexia in school or given special help, I was simply taught to read. When I had trouble, I was told to try harder. In the end, I can read as well, if not better, than most people, I just do it differently. I think with mild autism and mild forms of learning disorders, this is possible.

Autism cannot be cured and it depends on the extent of the disability as to if one that's stricted with it, can lead a normal life. Some can and some can't. A person with mild disabilities can practically live a normal life.
