It is Ostara, the spring equinox. Today we feel the energies of nature as they subtly shift from the sluggishness of winter to the exuberant expansion of spring. Light is overtaking darkness as they day and night area again in balance. It is a time for new beginnings, a time for action and liberation, a time for planting spells for future gains. Now is a time of renewed life, when we begin to see new birth everywhere. Purification and cleansing rituals are ideal for this time. Leave behind that which no longer suits you and move forward with a clean slate. It is an excellent time for spring cleaning, for getting rid of clutter. Donate your clothes and books and whatever else you no longer use to charity -you will have helped your fellow man along with yourself. Remember, if it isn’t beautiful, useful or meaningful, you probably don’t need it in your life. Have a happy spring, and a lovely Ostara! Blessed be!

And a lovely Ostara to you. Here, just outside of St. Louis, it was over 70°F last week. Tonight, we may get as much as 4" of snow. I think I'll wait to celebrate.

My mother-in-law (a devout Catholic) announced to me yesterday that today we should wear white and spend time outside at 12:30 pm to take in today's special energies of the sun (we have the day off here in Mexico - but not because of the beginning of Spring, although it's a happy coincidence). I think I will!
Happy Ostara to you, too!

It’s pretty darn frigid and unspringlike today, but tomorrow brings the equinox and hopefully a hike in temperature. My crocuses started to peek out during the last snowmelt and sixty-degree days, and they are not pleased at the moment.
Regardless, I wanted to wish everyone a happy and blessèd Ostara and springtime.

Another Ostara/first day of spring has come and gone. My crocuses are trying desperately to reach through the frost and the skies are blue, so there are signs of hope.
Blessed be and a merry turning of the Wheel to all!
