I'm sorry but you have not provided enough information for us to work with. There are several different types of removable media disks; CD players, flash (jump) drives, even floppy disks.

We need to know what kind you're referring too. Also, please tell us if you're installing the drive itself or if you're referring to the disk itself; that is, trying to format a disk.

I'm trying to install Windows OneCare Live on my system running Windows xp. It has a wizard to take you through the various steps of setting up the automatic restore function. That seems to work, but when you get to the point where it asks for disk ( drive letter F in my case) it doesnt find one.
I went to help in the index and looked up "to initialize new disks"} and found some easy steps to follow. But I dont get the dialog box they do. They say I should get one. Help would be much appreciated. The removable disk is solid state 110M byte, plugs directly into USB port.

I'm sorry this has taken so long to get back to you. I did not see your Reply post for some reason. You may have already solved this, but if not we can take another look at this problem.

You mentioned drive F:\ but you did not say what type of media drive F:\ is.

If F:\ is a removable type of drive, then you may need to initialize the new drive.

If F:\ is a partition of the primary or secondary (if you have two drives) hard drive, then I doubt that you will need to initialize it.

I imagine that this response isn't of much help to you. With this type of question, it is necessary to include all the information about what it is that you're attempting to do. It is often is better to take this type of question to the maker of the product that you're attempting to install, since their Technical Support People are familiar with their product and with the various problems their customers encounter.

The Windows Live One Care support site lists two different contact methods (1) Click here to launch Instant Support. I expect this one will open a live chat windows where you type in your questions. They will then ask you about your system. (2) Click here to contact a Windows Live One Care Support Professional. I expect this is an email question/response.

I hope something here will help!
