I used to have a 35mm camera(remember those -I had a Canon A-1) anyway when I went to have it serviced I was told to get a digital instead as the 35 mm was old news
Well with all of the digital cameras I have been looking at just what is a good one to consider buying, and what features should I avoid for it?
I see your post has been out on the web a few days. There's still quite a bit of 35mm film sold. The image quality of digital has improved tremendously over the past few years. Folks say the 35mm still has the edge on resolution. I have trouble distinguishing 35mm and anything with 6Megapixels or greater.
You've got lots of options. a) get your A-1 Fixed $$ and time b) find a good used one (you're comforatable with using it) c) go with a Cannon that fits your older lenses. d) start anew with digital avoid using digital zoom (you can get the same effect with cropping on your 'puter) It'l depend on what you want to do with the Pic's and how much effort. You can get a good snap shot camera and have the photo lab do all the work or you can do dark room work on the computer without the 'dark'.

Good camera store locally.. for me National Camera Exchange in Minnesota.
The 'old' brands Canon,Nikon,Lieca,Olympus are still the Lincoln,Cadillac,Mercedes... of today. good luck ... the purpose is to have fun with what you do. It's hard to draw the line where technology gets in the way of fun.
