I have a Fuja FinePix 2600Zoom, and of course usb cable to go with it. I was told it can also be used as a webcam, but there is nothing about that in the manual, and I am not very good with computers.

Can anyone explain to me if I can make this a webcam, and if so how? I would like to use it with yahoo messsenger, which most of my friends have.

I cannot tell you how to connect through to Yahoo IM but I can tell you how to Connect up your Cam as a webcam OK
There are 2 similar ways 1st,is to connect up Via Netmeeting this is found by pressing Start>Programa>Accessories>Internet Tools>Netmeeting, then follow the instructions (Wizard)
The 2nd (easier) method is to Visit www.Paltalk.com ,register download the program (very small) and follow the instructions (wizard) you should be seeing a picture within minutes, there is live help available if you log on to the beginners chatroom turn your sound on and you can hear whats going on as well,It's a well subscribed to site (always busy) and well moderated Wink(so no "Gutter gobs"!)
Seeing as you said your USB cable is connected up and the camera is recognised there is no reason why you should not be seeing an image?
I assume you have RealPlayer ? this works well displaying Webcams images If you haven't got it on your machine (Free) here's the download AddressPress this

But digi cameras have an auto shutoff so they can't be used as a web cam! There was a program one time but I forget who wrote it!

Thanks for your suggestions. I have Netmeeting and also another program, but turns out I need something far more basic- I need the utility program that enables the webcam. It doesn't seem to be on the CD that came with the digital camera, nor can I find it on the Fuji website. Help again?

BTW, Ivnj, when the camera is connected to the PC via USB, the automatic shutoff is over-ridden.
