I purchased a new Polaroid a515 digital camera a couple of days ago, and it works great, except for one thing. I kept the SD memory card from my old camera, and it used to be that when I hooked the memory card up to my computer, all of the pictures stored on it would show up in one folder. With the new camera, the pictures show up in about 15 different folders (some with no pics in them and some with several), even though I took them all on the same day. What's going on here???

I suggest that you re-format the SD memory card.

You can use your *PC to reformat the SD memory card, but you may lose some of the card's capability.

This page offers an SD Card re-formating utility:

I suggest you read the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) here, too.

*You can try to use your PC to reformat the card and if problems develop, then get the software discussed above.

To reformat the card:
1. First copy all images files to your hard drive or to another storage medium because re-formatting will cause everything on the card to be removed.

2. Once you've copied your pictures, put the card into your card reader

3. Open your "My Computer" icon

4. Locate the card

5. Right-click on the card icon

6. Choose "Format" from the right-click menu list.

7. Follow the steps to complete the process.

See this picture

Once this done, try your card. If any of the card capabilities that you desire are lost, then try the SD Formatting software.

I hope this will be of some help!

Dwight,
I'm Curious. Why would you not use the camera to format the card?

I could not find any information about the a515 camera at the Polaroid site.

Polaroid Support

Since I did not have access to a product manual, I thought it would be best to just format the card using the PC. If that failed to solve the problem, then the use of the SD card utility should restore it.

I probably should have added a link to the Polaroid site where Sarah51 could contact Polaroid support, but since there has not been any replies to this, I assume the problem is resolved.

The reason I asked is that I reformated with the computer and removed some needed files on the card. I had to call Canon tech support on how to get them back on since the card would not work in the camera. They said it was better to reformat using the camera.
