I have an HP PhotoSmart C200 digital camera (1 mega-pixel). I got it in 8/00 but only once downloaded pictures from it. That was at a friend’s ofc. It worked fine then. He has SWBell DSL.
Problem: When I tried to use it at home, I discovered I really need an AC adapter for it, otherwise it drains 4 new batteries of all power in 5 min. When I called an HP store, the proprietor said can't get parts for it; it's too old. He said 3 yrs is beyond the life expectancy of the camera. I can't accept this. There has to be a way to find an adapter that will work with it. Any ideas?
The other problem: The cable that connects the camera to my CPU has 9 pins. I have only a 15-pin port available on my CPU. I tried disconnecting the existing 9-pin cable from the CPU to free up that port, but the computer couldn't find the camera. The PhotoSmart software was installed (previously). The camera manual says there are 9-25 pin adapters that can be obtained if u don't have a 9-pin port available. Do u know anything abt this?
Info u might need: The cable (camera to CPU) has a bar code # of C5384-80002. The AC adapter they say I need is HP PhotoSmart C200 AC adapter (p/n C7311A).
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If the above doesn't have the parts, you might be able to find the AC adapter at a used computer store. If there is a Computer Renaissance store near you, they may have it.
While at the store, check on the cable. Perhaps you can find an adapter for that as well.
Does your PhotoSmart C200 digital camera have a memory card? A site I found said it has a 8MB CompactFlash card. If so, you might be able to use a card reader. Here is a Google search result page that may help: Maybe something here will help.
I hope something here helps.

Hi beankaput, welcome to the Pool. You said 4 batteries? If they are the AA batteries you might head for your local Walmart type store and invest in the rechargable batteries and the charger. I got a set for $17 last week.
I bought an older style battery at Batteries Plus for my camera. They also sell chargers. This link says they have 200 stores. Our store will do mailorders. Maybe they can help, they sure knew all about the products. Batteries Plus

dYou do not need the power adapter..Get yourself a SanDisk Image Mate...It plugs into a USB port and all you do is take your flash card out of your camera , put it into the ImageMate , and download it into your computer...I never do it direct from the camera..Cost about $20 on e-bay and well worth it... Oh yes, by all means, do what the Queen said, get yourself rechargeables...or OFF WITH YOUR HEAD !!!
