I have Win Me, The digital camera is Kodak CX7300, with easyshare software. I try to hookup my camera with the cable connected to the pc, it sees the connection says it's running but disappears when its done. Notta, zip, zilch in any folders.

So, I decided to get rid of easyshare, deleted it, all of it. It's just not a friendly user easy program and stalled up my pc. Then went searching for a resolution. Came up with Picasa 2.

I installed it, but it also didn't acknowledge the connection either, just pulled up my pics folder, with some desktop backgrounds too. I still can't get my pictures off of my camera.

So my next alternative was to get a card reader. Purchased a Secure Digital Card Reader/Writer, says it doesn't need any software installed. see here Same problem, does not show any drives on my computer, just c: and d:, what to do? I'm about to throw this old thing out the window!!! Please help.

Sounds like your WinME machine doesn't have proper drivers (built-in or otherwise) for your camera nor your card reader. Or the USB port you are trying to use isn't functioning properly.

You're one of the few out there still putting up with WinME! If you're going to throw anything out the window, it should be your aging PC.

Well, my thoughts exactly, but guess what?! I figured it out, finally. I went to my computer, usb storage device, properties, and gave my drive a device name, ie. j: Presto!, it's all there, yahooo! Guess the old horse is still kicking, eh?
