Just had a trumpet and saxophone refurbished. The trumpet is a family heirloom and the sax is a great tag sale find. Some day, I will know how to play every instrument. (Maybe not well, though!)

I want to get a good book or video on learning to play the things, does anyone have any reference? Also, are there any websites for such a thing? I have also been listening to old jazz and swing, composers and artists that are good would also be helpful.

Although this looks promising, I firmly believe that there is nothing like a good, live tutor to enable a student to start to learn to play an instrument. This way good habits are founded from the word go, and bad ones are weeded out as soon as they start to take root. All the videos and books in the world do not substitiute for regular, structured lessons from an experienced teacher. Good luck, VelvetVoice!
