I'm discoverinng that I actually like jazz, and I need some good titles to go on looking for. I like the stuff the was in "What Women Want" and I like stuff in old movies. There's this song I love, called either "Swing Swing Swing" or "Sing Sing Sing", and I'm not sure what genre that falls under. confused

The tune you are looking for is"Sing,Sing,Sing" recorded by Benny Goodman back in the mid 30's.The tune was written by Louie Prima.
If you like music from this genre, look for things by Benny Goodman,Tommy Dorsey,Count Basie,Woody Herman,Glenn Miller,Duke Ellington. There are others but I'd start with Benny Goodman and Glenn Miller and Count Basie.
This type of music is called Big Band Swing music and was popular fom the mid30's until the early 50's.
There is also a great deal of Small Combo Swing available, but it sounds to me that you're more interested in the Big Bands.
The names listed above will get you started and you'll develop your own personal favorites,
Hope this helps! cool

Carmen - Try renting Ken Burns' Jazz and watching at least the segments on the 20s, 30s, and 40s. You'll get a great deal of exposure to the music of that era.

Can anyone tell the latest jazz song

Two sneaky ads removed this time! One was for a coaches' resume service and the other for a web site building business in India. I have no idea how either relates to jazz.

Couple of suggestions to check out.

I like Booker T. and the MG's, 1980's vintage.

Of the old blues performers, I like Josh White. His son does jazz that I like, too .You can listen and if you like them buy from Amazon.com.

Dorian's suggestion about the Ken Burns series is excellent. As a lifelong jazz fan, it was the most enjoyable documentary series I ever watched -- as far as I'm concerned, that's why they invented television. Smile Less pricey is the series' companion audio CD, which contains a well-chosen mix of various genres and eras.
