Yes. I thought the answer might be Vera Lynn, with "Auf Wiedersehn Sweetheart."

I was concerned that someone would quote Wikipedia, which, in different entries, give credit to both Lynn and to the song "Telstar".

Ah, heck, you're right. I noticed the first six chart toppers were Americans and made a poor conclusion. It is, after all, a UK site!
