Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega surrendered in 1990 after rock music was blared for three ear-splitting days at the Vatican embassy where he was holed up.
Noriega was known to love opera and hated rock music with a passion, so U.S. soldiers began making requesting songs that had a "'musical message' for (him)... either by the words or the song title". Songs broadcast included such titles as "I Fought the Law and the Law Won," "If I Had a Rocket Launcher," "You're Messin' with a SOB," "I’m Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down," and "Nowhere to Run.
Michael Jackson song was "Beat It"
