On that date Beethoven had a public debut of his Piano Concerto NO. 4 and it was during that 4 hour concert (in an unheated concert hall during winter)that he also premiered the 5th and 6th Symphonies. But apparently there was a printer's mishap and the Pastoral Symphony (No 6) was billed as Beethoven's Symphony No 5 and the Fifth Symphony that was played hours later was billed as his symphony No 6.

That's it. You got your money's worth at concerts in those days Apparently the fourth piano concerto didn't go too well. The clarinets missed an intro and the composer stood up and shouted for the piece to start again. That's the problem with sessions musicians, they want extra money for rehearsals
