Which great composer, who died in 1869, never learned to play the piano? He played the flute and the guitar, at both of which he was proficient.

Just so. A musicologist on the BBC said that playing the guitar led Berlioz to put chords in his music which orchestras and pianists found difficult or odd. The chords were, as he put it, 'upside down'.On the guitar they were easy and normal. Smile
