That site looks like a spoof.. a sort of joke ... are you sure it is accurate?
This is what my information states:
By the age of 54, he was already completely deaf. His last symphony(Symphony No. 9) premiered on May 7, 1824. He made this symphony groundbreaking. For the first time, a chorus was included in this musical form. He had the choir sing German poet Friedrich von Schiller's 'Ode to Joy' fulfilling his childhood dream of expressing the indomitable spirit of man......like his triumph over his deafness. The audience rose to a thundering ovation as it ended. Beethoven, facing the orchestra and hearing nothing, was turned around by one of his crying singers to face the adoring audience. He died as a hero on March 26, 1827 in Vienna.
