I know that in order to lose a few pounds I have to give up the carbs. The problem is, I wont do it and know it. I refuse to give up my sugar soft drink also. Is there anything that carb lovers can do to to include them in the diet or something realistic that I could actually stick to as sort of a more permanent change in the way I eat?

This dieting this is new to me. I have been very lucky with metabolism to burn. Age is catching up with me a bit. I am now slowly gaining a pound here and there. I have no idea where to even start. I am not a picky eater, but don't care for fish. My old ways have to change a bit. I need a change that I can accept and live with though. Any ideas?

Here is a program you might want to consider. I have followed this diet for the last five years. It is not a matter of eliminating the carbohydrates you take in. Rather restructuring when you take them in. Limiting your carb intake to one meal in the day. What they refer to as the "Reward Meal"

They very much stress the Reward Meal being balanced. Also they are very big on eating salads with each meal.

Good luck!!!

Maybe you are like me, Flower. I love carbs and sweets. But I haven't given them up, just confined them to one meal, as suggested. I try to drink 2 Slim Fast's a day and that helps.

Catty, I'd be careful with drinking just slim fast for two meals. A lot of fluid diets don't provide the proper nutrition, or at least, that's what one of our coaches has said. Makes since though. Just tryin to help out! wink AND, is it true that if you eliminate more carbs, the more energy u have?

I too eat carbs only once a day, get the book "The Carbohydrate Addicts Lifespan Program" by Diamond. Well worth the money $20.00 can. You will loose weight but not too quickly and safely, and those diet drinks are full of carbs. big grin
