They contain appx. the same amount of calories as a candy bar...less fat though, are they really worth the high price if you need a sweet fix or should I save my money?

Whats nice about power bars though, is the protein level is higher. So, I can eat one of them for lunch and have more energy than I would if I had eaten something bigger and more expensive.

The convenience of them is quite nice.

Personally, I would steer clear of them due to the fact that most, though lower in sugar and carbs than candy bars, are still fairly high in the aforementioned items. You would be far better advised to mix up a protein shake with milk (prior to your workout) or water (after your workout). However, I do agree that they can be a convenient option if you're hungry or aren't going home after the gym and so can't mix up a protein shake. Much better than grabbing a bucket of fried chicken though!
