I am taking B vitamin complex tablet and a multi-vitamin daily. I usually take one of those in the morning, right after breakfast, as I always thought it's best to take vitamins with food. Breakfast consists of a big bowl of cereal with milk (about 3dl milk). But a friend told me it's actually not good to take vitamins at the same time as diary products, as the calcium hinders absorption of some vitamins. Is that true?

Vit B-12 and factors affecting absorption

For optimum calcium absorption, an intake of Vitamin D is required. Ingesting milk will NOT affect vitamin absorption.
