Lucy, right now there is some cotraversy about the drug, it may be pulled from shelves in the near future. It has been linked to heart palpatations, irregularities, and heart attack. I do not recommend taking this. Stick with a healthy diet and exercise, the first few days are always the hardest, but once your body gets used to a healthier diet, you naturally will not crave the higher fat, sygar ladden foods. Better to be alive and without permanent heart damage. If you still just have to try the drug, please consult your doctor first for a check-up to make dure your heart is not pre-disposed to this type of damage.

kittypal - There has been some contraversy about a specific drug (ephedrine) used in the original Xenadrine. Xenadrine EFX, which Lucy says she is using (in her health forum post) does not contain ephedrine (EFX stands for Ephedrine Free Xenadrine). As long as it doesn't have ephedrine in it, it appears to be safe (you shouls *always* talk to your doctor before using this or anything like it though). I don't know how effective either version is though.

Thanks Methos, I didn't see that in the post about EFX, lol, that's why you're EOM and I am not! As for effective, personally I think a lot of it is psychological, remember you still have to watch your diet and exercise, and I see you are doing that, but you can do that withOUT the pill just as well. Cool

I tried the Xenadrine EFX last year and didn't care for the way it made me feel. I stopped taking in within the first week.

I'm not sure what ingredient caused it, but I became quite irritable and had trouble sleeping. As soon as I stopped taking it, these problems stopped.

Giz, so many people think if the bottle says "all natural" it's safe to take, remember even natural herbs can have major side effects. Pot is all natural too and look what that does.

Lucy, with the simple diet and the exercise, it sounds like you have a great plan. I would not mess around with dietary supplements unless specifically approved by your doctor. They can be dangerous. Many of them are not required to carry warning labels about side-effects (although that may change) and currently, they may not list all of their ingredients (although that WILL change).
Consult your doctor. There are foods and vitamin supplements that can boost your energy, if that's what you are looking for, but please be careful with dietary supplements -even if they don't contain ephedra.

and p.s. may I say that I love your name? it is one of my favorites

You're welcome, Lucy. But I do hope you checked with your doctor before starting on the supplements..? Just because you have not noticed side effects does not necessarily mean all is well (although I'm sure it is). You ought to check with your doctor before starting on anything new.

Has it been effective? I can't tell, no one has answered this particular part of the question.

Tell you what, Today I will buy a bottle (30 day supply) and I will report back in a month.

I could stand to lose about 10 pounds of fat, so it will not be too big of a deal.

I am not pregnant, nor do I have a weak heart, nor prostate issues (all on the warning label BTW). Further, I will not abuse the dosage by taking more, and I have also uncovered that it is recommended to start off the first week with half the dosage, to gauge affects. I took the time recently to read up on it. Something a person should do with all dietary supplements, even vitamins and minerals.

I will report back in a few days and let you know what it is doing to me (Note: it may have other affects for you) I will warn now that if the side effects are a problem for me, I will cease taking it immediately.

Through the month of test, I will report back my results.

Let us call this an experiment.

Cheers

David

REPORT:

Thursday I purchased a bottle of Xenadrine EFX (Ephedrine Free)

Yesterday I took one in the morning, I forgot to take one for lunch at work. I read up on it, and several sites said to start the first week taking one with break fast, and one with lunch. After the first week take 2 at breakfast, 2 with lunch.

I did not notice any immediate ill effects.

I will report again later in the week to let you know.

Cheers

David

I read somewhere that you really start to notice some change untill the second month. This is NOT a magical product and I dont think it´s possible to have any effects in a week or less.

What I have felt in the last month is that my stamina is higher and that my hunger has decreased. However, I don´t feel the changes have been drastic. I´ll let you know too how I feel at the end of my second month.

I dropped the diet, now I am only eating less than before. However, I am still going to the gym at least 3 times a week for two hours. I haven´t lost any weight, but I do feel LOTS better.

Quick update:

Today I upped the dosage to two caps with breakfast, two caps with lunch.

I have not noticed any problem sleeping, or any other side effects - and I have not noted a decrease in hunger either. If anything, I am more hungry, but that could be because I am starting my spring/summer cycle of more work.

Cheers

David

I tried Hydroxycut which is on the same shelf at GNC. They told me both are basically the same. ( I was there today) It made my heart race really fast so I stopped taking it. I was way too shaky with the caffeine. One of the problems with Hydroxy cut and EFX is that is you have to take it 30-60 minutes before you eat. I never know when I'm going to eat so that was a big problem for me. My friend took Xenadrine EFX and lost 30 pounds. It worked for her. She hasn't taken it in months and hasn't gained the weight back. Please keep us updated.

Clare, are you certain it was like the Ephedrine Free Xenadrine? Careful the Ephedrine (which goes by other names as well, is in a lot of dietary supplements)

REPORT:

I am still taking the Xenadrine EFX (Ephedrine Free).

Nothing has changed, not weight loss, no weight gain, no increase or decrease in hunger (Beyond the fact that I am working harder lately)

And too there have been no side effects.

It has been sixteen days since I started this program. I will continue through the rest of the bottle, if I see no changes by then, I will not spend any more money on the product. Sorry.

I will report back next week.

cheers

David

Oh No! I just looked. It has Ma-Huang Extract (stem and leaf) Standardized for 20mg ephedra alkaloids.

Ok Lucy, I have taken the whole bottle of Xenadrine EFX - I have not experienced anything (except a little lightening of the wallet)

It might work for you, as far as I can tell it doesn't do anything.

Again, the sites I visited said that this supplement should be taken with proper diet and exercise - I suspect that diet and exercise are the key ingredients to losing weight (fat)

I will not continue taking this supplement.

Thus ends my reports.

Cheers

David

I have taken the Hydroxycut that is ephedra free with ok results. Lost about 10 pounds but also lost some muscle mass, likely won't do it again, muscle is too hard to put on to have it melted off.
