I have always thought that coffee had more caffeine than tea. Then recently, I heard differen't. Is this true? Does tea actually have more caffeine than coffee?

The dificulty in answering this is that the amounts of caffeine in both vary a lot. A typical cup of coffee has nearly twice as much as a typical cup of black tea. Green tea typically has about half the caffeine of black tea, and herbal tea is caffeine-free.

There is one measure in which tea has more, however. The caffeine is more concentrated in dry tea than dry coffee. Of course, you use more dried coffee for a given volume of water than dried tea, resulting in more caffeine in coffee.
