Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease is a human form of Mad Cow Disease. My family had decided to become vegetarian since learning that the Canadian Government had fired scientists who tried to warn the public that Canadian pigs, chickens and cows are still being fed recycled animal product, and that 'tame' government spokespersons had lied to us that the feeding of animal-tissue-based food to livestock had been banned since 1997. They did this to protect the Canadian beef industry. No doubt similar lies are being told in the U.S. since there the meat industry lobbies are also very powerful. To go vegetarian is no big deal for my family, really. We don't eat much meat.

(The Japanese are testing every carcass before it is sold for human consumption. We claim we can't afford to do that.)

But then I heard some good news. Maple Leaf brand is now selling chicken and turkey that has been fed only vegetable food. I hope they will expand their product line, but at least now we are planning on a Christmas turkey!

If you want to buy their products, you can find your nearest food store that carries the Prime product line by going to

A couple of years ago, I had a close friend die from CJD (or what they called CJv). She had gone with her church group 8 months earlier to Germany and then to Israel for a Holy Land tour.
One day she was talking to her mom on the phone and started to talk jibberish. She was rushed to the hospital and went in and out of comas and had one convulsion after another. The doctors couldn't detect what she had until she died and they did the autospy. She suffered a hideous death; she had just turned 50. I (and her family) always wondered where and how she ingested the diseased meat --- abroad and here?
