Hey clarebear - just wanted to mention that a friend of mine (both women) and I had decided to start walking now that the weather is better.
First walk was just this morning! We started out at my house & both had to make stops at the bank and convenience store - we basically made a trek up and down the streets of our small town, ending up back at my house. We then got into the car and duplicated the route to see how far we had gone.
We were very pleased to see that the route we took this morning netted us almost 2.5 miles! And we did this in about 30 minutes! Considering it was the first day, we were both very proud!
We both just recently joined our local fire dept and want to build up a little for those grueling fire calls we might get!
I can see us doubling & tripling the walk as time goes by this month...adding a little every few days. Where we live, towns are about 7 miles apart on the main highway, so I would eventually like to walk to the next town and back.
Walking, along with swimming, are a couple of the best "passive" exercises you can do to benefit your body. You just need to stick with it!
