I no Im not as fat as I imagine, but I still feel a little uncomfortable and dont jump up and down and act perky to the best of my abilities!

Ive been doing cardio for a while, but its not really helping the lower part of my body. does nayone have any suggestions to get rid of fat? thankees in advance.

Yelena: You will have to lose weight all over to lose weight in your legs. It will probably be easier to change your attitude toward your legs. Remember, that for every person who admires thin, bony legs there are an equal number who like plumper legs. Quit worrying about what other people will think of you - jump! and enjoy it. Believe me, your demeanor when you are enjoying your cheers more than makes up for your legs - people love to watch other people who are really enjoying themselves. Consider this: if a member of your team had no legs, or no arms, would you advise her to tone down her enthusiasm? See?

Catty's right, a lot of people DO like big legs, my boyfriend being one of them. I play softball so I have pretty muscular legs, not just skinny ol' legs, I don't really like them but he does. I suggest running though, it's the only thing that's gonna REALLY be effective on making them skinny while making the rest of you skinny as well. If you want to tone them up, lift some weights. Need anymore advice, email me! wink Good luck!

They're right! My advice is to lift weights, maybe run a little every once in a while, take the stairs, and for gosh sake- JUMP AT PEP RALLIES AND FOOTBALL GAMES! Have you noticed the other girls' leg muscles rippling and flexing when they're jumping all round?

Well-
That means that the muscles are doing work RIGHT THEN AND THERE! That's what you want them to look good for and that's one of the best ways to get them that way.

*Remember when you were little and you got yelled at for jumping on the bed? Do you remember your legs being that bad way back then? I dont think so! big grin Get back on the bed, do some jumping jacks.. or..for the bedspring's sake...buy a trampoline! big grin big grin big grin

Exercise.

Gee obviously you would be getting exercise as a cheerleader, do they not jump, roll, bounce and all that? Least ways they did when I was in High School a few thousand years ago....

The problem may not be your legs, it may just very well be that you are opposed to wearing those short, short skirts.

I wouldn't blame you if you did have an issue with those darn little skirts. They are far from modest you know.

I know a lot of people who feel that their body is not 100% perfect when in fact they are drop dead, professional model material, gorgeous.

Sort of like the same thing that an anorexic or bulimic goes through, even though they are far from fat they feel fat - they see fat when they look in the mirror (Trust me, the mirror can lie)

My suggestion would be start with honestly seeking the opinion of a person who can look at you objectively - A doctor or the Coach or even the school nurse.

I know a lot of people who get caught up in the notion that their weight determines if they are fat or not - they use the primitive and far from accurate measuring device call 'scales'. The idea that fitness can be solely determined by the weight of a person is wrong.

The real test that tells the truth about the issue is the Body Fat Percentage test. This is not a measurement that can be taken at home, it must be performed by a Doctor or a professional trainer.

The test can be done in several ways, one is weighing you in and out of water to find your density (fat is less dense than muscle and will cause the body to float).

Before making the assumption that you need to lose weight, find out if you are really fat to begin with.

Females are suppose to have a higher body fat percentage than males. Trust me, those models who have nearly no body fat are in bad health.

There is such a thing as an individual optimal weight based on age, gender, health and genetics. Only a professional or a Doctor can tell you if you are at your optimal weight or not.

It may very well be that you are genetically tailored to carry a tad bit more weight on your legs than others. To defeat this genetic trait means that you will have to starve yourself, which in turn means you risk getting sick.

Your health is the only thing that really matters.
