Right now I should actually be at my peak as far as being fit goes right? I play softball in college which I'm sure some of you already know. We practice and play games 6 out of 7 days of the week. Our practices are usually rather lengthy, but not a WHOLE lot of running/conditioning. We'll run short 8 minute runs or 20 50yd. dashes here and there. We lift weights about twice a week. Although we don't do much flat out running, we ARE always on our feet during practices, always moving, always squatting (guess that's y softball girls have big butts??)and also running anywhere we have to move(hustling). In other words, we don't sit down during practices, but also, we don't just run the whole time. On game days, which is two to three times a week, usually two, we play two games that usually last almost two hours, plus the fact that we come earlier in the morning and hit for about an hour or hour and a half, come back an hour and a half before the game starts to warm up and then play. All together we're at the field on our feet from about 10 in the morning to 5:30 at night with an hour or so break in between there for lunch. Is this enough exercise to slim me down if I eat right? I've started eating a lot healthier than I was. I'm not fat, but I'm bigger than I was before I came to play ball in college. I LIKE to blame it on all the weights we lift, that would be nice. I never pay attention to how much I actually weigh b/c I know that's going to be a little different for people who are athletic and tend to have more muscle mass, I just pay attention to how I look and how I'd LIKE to look. Anyways, my question was just about eating right. Will it help me slim down if all I do is change my diet or do I need to add even MORE exercising? I'm already exhausted w/school and softball as it is, would i be over doing it to add more exercise?

I think you already answered the question... "I'm already exhausted".

You are by no means a large girl, and you are still a teenager and that means gaining height and mass.

Monitor what you eat by just avoiding concentrated sweets, don't eat lots of carbs, focus more on fruit, fresh veggies and non-fried meat and foods.

Other than that, stop worrying about it.

I agree with sher, you are not fat so why worry? Some people have bigger frames (bigger bones) and the number on a scale really isn't going to tell you much anyway because muscle weighs more than fat. It sounds like you get plenty of exercise and if you feel healthy thats what counts. Except yourself as you are. Do eat healthy though. As far as eating, exercise and losing weight, it takes 3500 calories to gain one pound of fat and it takes burning 3500 calories to lose one pound of fat, so if you are burning more than you are taking in, you'll lose, if you are burning about the same as you take in you'll stay about the same, etc... Most people burn about the same as they take in, except from time to time of course. Be happy with yourself you sound fine.
