If it is on your plate, generally about 4 ounces., but it varies slightly with the type of food.

Farang,

I am sorry you have been diagnosed as a Diabetic, however with compliance in your diet and careful monitoring, you can maintain good health for years to come.

This Website provides some good information you might be able to use.

Scroll to the bottom of that page, specific examples are provided.

  • Try and fill 1/2 of your plate with vegetables, 1/4 of your plate with a starch, 1/2 cup with a protein and have fruit for dessert.
  • Read food labels
  • When getting started, measure your food for a one-week period.

    1 palm = 3 ounces
Your palm is about the size of a 3 ounce serving to meat, fish or poultry.

    1 fist = 1 cup
A cup of cereal, spaghetti, vegetable or cut-up fruit is about the same size as your closed fist.

    1 thumb = 1 ounce of cheese
A piece of cheese the size of your thumb is roughly equivalent to 1 ounce.

I found this great link that has more ways to help you figure out serving sizes.
