I am so sick of people suing over their "diets" that caused them health problems. why is this allowed?
Every diet I have ever read about tells you to consult your doctor first.
Atkins (which I have done) even tells you if you have the conditions of heart disease or diabetes to discuss it with your doctor to find out if this is something for you so that they can test you regularly to see if it is effecting your levels. I believe there was a whole chapter on this!
I read recently about a man suing because he ate nothing but Mcdonalds for 30 days and gained weight, another suing Atkins because all the high fat caused him to get heat disease and clogged ateries.
I read the book and it doesn't say NO CARBS it says LOW CARBS you shock your body(for the first phase) by nearly eliminating all carbs so that it starts to use the stored fat for energy (ketosis) then you gradually add them back until you maintain a healthy weight. All diets included excersise!! you have to burn off what you don't want.
Also atkins does allow a lot of fat- but you are to watch for trans fats and/or the ones that are harmful to everybody. You don't have to eat a bunch of fatty meats but can eat fish, veal, venision, chicken etc that in moderation are healthy and low fat. Why do people blame others for their own stupidity when doing diets and failing or causing themselves harm?
With ANY diet you should get a physical (blood work etc) and have your doctor follow your progress. Everyone is different and must modify each diet to fit and balance their own body's needs.
People get mad and disgusted with themselves when they can't lose weight and want to blame someone else. If there's a way they can sue for monetary reasons, they will, and go out and spend a lot of the money on more fatty foods. The lawyers in these lawsuits know that their client is to blame, but that's how they make their living, so of course, they are gonna make a case of it. Some win, some lose.
