In my own words, yoga is a practice that involves doing a series of poses (asanas) while regulating breath and thoughts. The physical exercise that yoga gives is by using the body's own weight as resistance and by stretching the muscles. Yoga is a holistic approach to muscular fitness and is different than traditional weight training because it uses stretching and resistance to tone the muscles. It is also important to understand that the focus of yoga training is to have a healthy body AND mind, so many of the exercises are focused on relaxation and meditation.
