I ran across this article. While it does mention several well known diets, there are several that are not mentioned.

Has anyone here had any experience with any of the diets mentioned here? Do you agree with the findings in this article?

I don't have any personal experience, but you may be interested in going to a library to check out Newsweek's recent (within the past month) more descriptive evaluation of american diet in general and popular diets in particular.

The rankings are completely bogus.

It's typical AMA crap. They're about 20 years behind the research/evidence curve.

There's significant and repeated evidence that the Atkins diet is beneficial for most heart problem indicators; that is lowered triglycerides, higher hdl, and generally lower overall cholesterol. Yet, they call it unsafe and specifically site "heart concerns."

The "insulin resistance" diet is somewhat of an extrapolation of Atkins, and is definitely the current best information we have on healthy eating. Yet it also rates poorly.

The "Eat right for your type" diets are spread all over the damn chart depending on which "type." I never found the evidence of this concept to be convincing either - but I'd rate the entire thing as a fairly marginal idea, rather than call one blood type good, and others bad.

Overall, it's based on outdated and biased information, I'd consider it less than worthless.

I have no experience with those listed, however, my wife and I have done the South Beach Diet for 6 weeks plus now and we found it very easy to follow (especially with a partner). I've lost aprox. 25 lbs and shes dropped more than 15. It is basically a low carb, very low sugar diet set in phases with phase I the most restrictive. I haven't had a piece of bread, candy, rice or potatoes for those six weeks and I don't crave them. I've pretty much stuck to phase I because it worked and I wasn't where I wanted to be yet. I see myself pretty much staying on it for the near future because it works and I've adapted to it.

My mom recently is using the atkins diet with good success. She has dropped about 15 pounds so far she only has like another 10 or so to lose. My dad is a doctor and done alot of research on this diet and is having her blood work checked and all. So far all is good. Smile

I am using a modified meal plan... eatting when I am hungry, stopping when I am not.. minimal snacks and limiting to reasonable portions things I am hungry for.. ice cream, etc.

I have now lost about 12 1/2 pounds without a lot of sacrifice... moderation is the key I am working on.

I have tried a lot of different diets and pills. None of them worked.
The only thing that worked for me was exercise. I just have to burn off what I take in. I have raised my metabolism by exercising.
I will never go on another "diet" again.
