My hot water tank has been operating just fine. 3 days ago the shower's water temperature rose dramatically. I had to turn it WAYYYY down, in order to get a less scalding temperature.

This morning, the water temperature could bearly get above tepid. Today after work.. I have no hot water. The pressure release valve (which is located on top of the heater) is dripping.

This tank is less than 2 years old.

Do I have a thermostat problem?

And Had the Water drip too. Was a small solenoid seal which had failed was controling the Hot/Cold Flow and was operated by the Thermostat Price of the replacement switch was about $10
Are you still under warranty? as It is a fitters job(and I was told its a common fail Item)
Is WOW or FrankVan about? They may know more about this circuit

It's all over, but the crying. The plumber walked off with my $975.40 AND I didn't even play for the tank, since it was still under warranty.

Where is the justice? Ya, I know... I should have been a plumber!

Sorry to tell you this, but unless your hot water heater is in a hard place to change out, I think you were over charge.

I think I would go back to the plumbing company and complain.

When I was in the business, my company would do a tank for around $500 inclucding the tank. Prices have gone up sense then.

How did he take to replace?

A direct swap out should be easy as nothing has to be changed. Hour on the job max. Add another horn to pick up the tank.

I would also contact the tank manufacturer. Let them know how much it cost you for their defective tank.

In most cases, the manufacturer would pay just to repair the tank. Replacing the thermostat. This would cost you nothing.

Caveat emptor.

I think part of the high cost was due to being called out on a Saturday afternoon.
